Julie Leckart is a local New Yorker - born in the Bronx and raised in Westchester County. With almost twenty years practicing and analyzing the law, she has demonstrated that her experiences and skills not only make her a great litigator but someone you want on your team.
Taking the time to diligently prepare for all cases by fully preparing the clients, learning their personal stories and doing comprehensive research is important to Julie. By doing this and using her legal skills, she has achieved great success both in and out of court.
Because Julie is admitted to practice and knows the law in both New York and Florida, she has been able to represent clients who have had cases in both states at the same time. She recently won the right for a father who lives in New York to make all decisions involving the education of his children, who live in Florida with their mother. This was a crucial win for the children, who are now thriving in an excellent public school in their local school district in Florida.
In a difficult case concerning an order of protection, Ms. Leckart convinced the judge that her client's neighbor had not proven that her client had placed her in reasonable fear for her safety by cursing at her in the driveway of her home. The order of protection that the neighbor initially obtained against her client was reversed.
Julie Leckart is especially proud of the cases that went to the appellate level where she has won each and every case on appeal. In one such case, she successfully proved to the Appellate court that despite having a pre-nuptial agreement, it was still necessary for the husband to provide mandatory disclosure of financial records.
Julie sees the bigger picture and does not "sweat the small stuff" when offering advice to future and current clients. She has found that taking the "high road" often helps her clients make it through the emotional rollercoaster of Family Law cases. She listens intently to what her clients really need and want in order to move on with their lives and reach their ultimate goals.
Julie is often reminded of a quote from Audrey Hepburn which says, "Nothing is impossible, the word itself says, I'm possible".
